Exmoor National Park Management Plan
Exmoor National Park Authority has a duty to prepare a National Park Plan and review it every five years. The Management Plan is the main policy plan for the National Park, setting out a vision for the future of Exmoor and the measures proposed to achieve it. It helps to direct the resources and activities of the numerous organisations and people that are involved with Exmoor. The current Management Plan covers the period from 2007 to 2012 and over that time good progress has been made on the 14 priorities identified in the Plan by the many people and organisations who have worked together to care for Exmoor’s unique environment and local communities.

Review of the Exmoor National Park Management Plan
The current Plan is now being reviewed and updated to ensure that it is still relevant and focused on the key challenges facing Exmoor over the next five years. The new Plan will be a Partnership Plan for Exmoor 2012-17, and requires the active involvement and engagement of all those involved or with an interest in Exmoor.
Consultation on challenges and priorities
Over the summer we asked people what they thought were the key challenges facing the National Park, and what they felt the priorities for action should be. We received responses from over 1000 people, from residents, community groups, local businesses, visitors, representatives from youth groups and black and minority ethnic communities. A number of workshops were also held with land owners, farmers, foresters, National Park users, partner organisations and other interested groups.
A report from the consultation has been produced, detailing all the comments and responses received. You can view the consultation report here.
What happens next?
The views gathered over the summer are being used to prepare the draft Partnership Plan for Exmoor, which will guide the activities of the National Park Authority and other organizations over the next 5 years. The Partnership Plan will be consulted on during November and December 2011, details will be available on this web page.
It is hoped that local communities, land owners and everyone with an interest in Exmoor will get involved to help shape and deliver the Plan. The Partnership Plan will be revised in the light of responses to the consultation and will be adopted by the National Park Authority in April 2012.
