Lynmouth Pavilion
Architect's drawing of new Lynmouth PavilionFollowing concerns expressed at a meeting between local businesses of Lynmouth and Lynton, the Town Council and Exmoor National Park Authority, work on the demolition of the Lynmouth Pavilion will be postponed until the beginning of October this year.
At the meeting, the businesses and Town Council expressed their concerns regarding the proposed timetable for the demolition works, which were due to start shortly and the potential disruption to businesses in these difficult economic times.
Tim Braund from the National Park Authority said: “We have listened to the concerns of the business community and the Town Council and as a result we have revised the timetable and rescheduled the work to start later in the year so there will be no disruption over the early Easter season.
“Working in partnership with businesses, the Town Council and the wider Lynton and Lynmouth community, we are convinced that we can develop a new facility for visitors and local people alike that we can all be proud of and which will enhance and encourage people to visit Lynton, Lynmouth and Exmoor National Park.”
The National Park Authority, with generous support from Devon County Council’s ‘Invest in Devon Fund’ (secured by Andrea Davis) will be investing over £1million in to the new National Park Centre on the site of the redundant Pavilion building. It is anticipated that, working to the revised timetable, the new Centre will still be open for Spring 2013.
