Secretary of State appointments

Caroline Spelman, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has re-appointed two ‘national’ Members of Exmoor National Park Authority for a further term.

Dr. Stephen Head and Prof. Dr. John Wibberley, who have already served one 4 year term, are both to serve a further 4 years. Secretary of State Members are appointed to serve a special role and are the national voice on the National Park Authorities, which have strategic responsibility for conservation, recreation, planning, access and resources.  Members receive a basic allowance of £2,500.

Both Members were closely involved in the production of the recently published Exmoor National Park Partnership Plan 2012-2017 with Dr. Head taking the lead for wildlife and Dr. Wibberley for farming and land management.

Chairman of the National Park Authority John Dyke said: “I am delighted that Stephen and John are to serve another term.  We are very fortunate to have such high quality Secretary of State appointees on the Authority and their experience and breadth of knowledge are greatly valued.”
