The third of the Exmoor National Park Big Adventures is happening from 10am to 4pm on Friday 3 August in the Valley of Rocks, near Lynton, courtesy of Exmoor National Park Authority and Heart of Exmoor. This free event has an Olympics theme and there are family games and activities lasting all day.
There’s also an Olympic themed art competition for children, parents, friends and family where everyone can come along and display their paintings in the Exmoor National Park tent. There will be free prizes and a chance to compete for a main prize in Under 7 years, Under 12 and 16+ categories.
National Park ranger Adam Vasey says: “It’s the first time we’ve organised a Big Adventure in the Valley of Rocks which is such a stunning location that the day should be fantastic whatever the weather.”
To help get in the spirit of the day, one of the Olympic Torches will be there courtesy of, and accompanied by, Ian and Gill Buchanan from Bampton.
David Rolls from Heart of Exmoor said: “It should be a wonderful event. The Valley of Rocks provides a brilliant natural moorland arena and I would especially like to thank the Heritage Lottery Fund for their financial support.”
There are car parking and toilet facilities available on site and people should wear outdoor clothing and suitable footwear. For more information contact the National Park Centre in Dulverton on 01398 323841.
