Free Firewalks on Exmoor

Free log and wood pellet boiler tours are being run by Exmoor National Park Authority to give people the chance to view domestic systems in operation.

The short tours called Firewalks will take place during the mornings of Friday 1st, Saturday 2nd, Friday 8th and Saturday 9th of March at various locations throughout Exmoor.  A mix of log and wood pellet boilers will be available to view.

The initiative has been organised as part of Exmoor National Park Authority’s Exmoor Woodheat initiative, through which Government grants of £3,000 are available for householders to install log, wood pellet and wood chip heating systems.

Tim Stokes, Sustainability and Economy Manager for Exmoor National Park Authority said: “The tours provide an opportunity to speak to a householder who has installed a log or wood pellet heating system, in a non-sales environment.

“The tours will give people a clearer picture of what is involved in installing and running a wood heating system and greater confidence to press ahead with installation if it is right for them.”

An independent wood heating engineer will be on hand to answer any technical questions. Advice regarding any planning issues will also be available together with written case studies for each.

People are welcome to attend any or all of the tours, but must register with Exmoor National Park Authority first on 01398 323665.
