The Members of the Exmoor Consultative Forum

A meeting of the Exmoor Consultative Forum will be held in the Committee Room, Exmoor House, Dulverton, on Friday 7 November 2003 at 10.30 am (a buffet will be available after the meeting).

The meeting will be open to the press and public subject to the passing of any resolution under s.100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972.

#There will be a public question time at this meeting for members of the general public.  The details are set out at the end of the agenda.

  3. Items Raised by Forum Members:
    1. Michael Scott asks the meeting to discuss Draft Planning Policy Statement 7 (PDF, 217kb) on ‘Sustainable Development In Rural Areas’, recently issued for consultation by the government, and how it will affect the people of Exmoor – copy of Draft PPS 7 attached.
    2. The Exmoor Society asks the Forum to discuss the following items: -

      Economy of Exmoor : Could the NPA bring us up-to-date on the action it has taken to follow up the Statement on the Economy of Exmoor, published in June 2002 and, where necessary, to implement its recommendations. In particular, what consideration has the Authority given to the Exmoor Society's proposals for an umbrella organisation to stimulate and co-ordinate initiatives by producers and consumers to fulfil the aims set out in the Statement?

      Traffic Calming in Villages etc.: In view of the present variation in treatment between parishes, and earlier promises of a more consistent approach, what action has the Authority now taken, in conjunction with the highway authorities, to co-ordinate and apply measures to reduce the speed of traffic in villages and on rural roads on Exmoor?

      (NB.  If any other Forum members wish to raise other issues, there will be the opportunity to do so verbally)
  4. Moorland Initiative: Graham Wills, the Authority’s Head of Conservation and Land Management will report on the development of a Moorland Initiative for Exmoor.
  5. Hunting Study: Nigel Stone, the National Park Officer will outline the findings of the Study.
  6. Rights of Way: There will be a workshop session on this topic.
  7. Date of Next Meeting – Wednesday, 16 June 2004 at 6.30 pm

#Public Question Time
This facility is for members of the general public, as opposed to Consultative Forum Members. It provides the opportunity for the public to ask questions or make statements on any items on the meeting’s agenda. The timing of public questions during the meeting will be at the Chairman’s discretion and those wishing to participate can speak for up to 2 minutes. If there are a number of people present for a particular item, the Chairman may ask for a nominee to speak on their behalf and a longer time may be permitted. If you wish to ask a public question, please let Martin Palmer, the Member Services Officer know before the meeting commences.
