Environmental Stewardship Scheme
This was launched in 2005 and is a DEFRA agri-environment scheme, administered by Natural England. It provides funding to farmers and other land managers in England to deliver effective environmental management.
The Exmoor Moorland Management Grant
The Exmoor National Park Authority’s Sustainable Development fund has ring-fenced up to £20,000 to be handed out in the form of a number of small grants to moorland managers.
Apprenticeships for Young Farmers
Exmoor Moorland Landscape Partnership is running a new project for 2011 with farmers who wish to be ‘Moorland Tutors’ and uniquely, in Exmoor National Park, we also have funds to help to pay the wages of 3 Exmoor Moorland Apprentices.
The Exmoor Knotweed Control Project
Japanese knotweed is one of Britain’s most invasive weeds, and is posing a real threat to some of the native flora and fauna of Exmoor. Both Japanese knotweed and its cousin, Himalayan knotweed can be seen along many watercourses on Exmoor, such as the Lyn and the Heddon, and also along hedgebanks and roadside verges.
The Project is currently able to support landowners by offering to treat the knotweed on their land.
