Sustainable construction
Exmoor has abundant natural resources that could be used sustainably for construction projects within and around the National Park. In order to encourage the increased supply and use of such materials, Exmoor National Park Authority commissioned Ecos Trust to undertake some research to provide:
- a comprehensive inventory of the range and type of materials from sustainable sources within the Greater Exmoor area that can be used in building projects inside and outside the National Park;
- an assessment of the quality and quantity of local sustainable construction materials available and the degree of processing required;
- an assessment of the current utility of local sustainable construction materials and any changes that may be required to specifications to make best use of the resources available; and
- an analysis of the supply chains for local sustainable construction materials
