The Mystery of Pinkery Pond

Date: 8th Nov 2018 7:30pm
Pinkery Pond lies in the high moorlands of Exmoor National Park; the highest artificial lake in southern England. It was created by the construction of a huge earth dam designed to block the River Barle. It was made some 200 years ago for John Knight; the wealthy ironmaster who’d bought much of the moorlands. So why was it built? Dr Graham Wills’ talk will explore the intriguing history of the pond and examine the various theories about its intended function.
