Orionids Meteor Walk over Dunkery (Exmoor National Park Authority)

Join an Exmoor Ranger to walk to the top of National Trusts’ Dunkery Beacon as the sun goes down. We hope to see meteors in action and the many star constellations in our dark skies or we’ll make our way up through rain and cloud, listening for the wild night sounds in which Exmoor excels. This walk is about 4 miles long and parts are on uneven narrow paths in the dark; a reasonable level of fitness is required and please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.

This event will take place whatever the weather, although if it is extremely poor the Ranger may take you on an alternative shorter walk to the top of Horner Valley to listen to the deer.

No advance booking necessary. £3 per person payable on the night to CareMoor.

Join a National Park Ranger to gain confidence in visiting the countryside at night, listen to the sounds and gaze in awe at the heavens. It is equally likely the mists will be swirling and the rain sweeping across - a different but eerie experience not to be missed! Expect very rough ground in exceptionally low light; torches are not going to be used but please bring one for emergency use. 3½ miles maximum. This event may be cancelled in bad weather. £5p.p. Night Sky Forest Walk (Forestry Commission)
