Kentisbury
The parish of Kentisbury straddles the boundary of the National Park on its western edge. The settlement is scattered and the parish contains the hamlets of Patchole and Kentisbury Ford. Most of the settlement lies outside of the National Park, but the parish church and a few farmhouses and cottages are within the boundary. It is combined with Trentishoe as a civil parish.

Meaning of place name: rounded hill with a fort. There is an Iron Age hill slope enclosure on Kentisbury Down.
