Substantial progress has been made in the refurbishment of the bungalow at Blackpitts. Applications of expressions of interest from eligible people are being invited by Smiths Gore, Taunton, for the tenancy of the property near Simonsbath which is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment by Exmoor National Park Authority.
Anyone interested in renting the property, which is expected to be available from late March 2010, must be solely or mainly working or last working in agriculture or forestry in the local area. The barn and adjoining land will also be available to rent with the bungalow on a separate tenancy; both properties will be available for two years in the first instance. The area is still a building site and for health and safety reasons there can be no visits other than the open day which will be in January 2010.
The bungalow has had to be extensively refurbished to meet modern housing standards and now includes environmentally friendly systems such as photovoltaic tiles to supplement generator power, spring water supply with filtration and ultra violet treatment and a biodisc sewage treatment plant.
Chief executive of Exmoor National Park Dr Nigel Stone said: “The Authority has had to undertake a great deal of work to bring the property up to modern standards and we hope it will provide a comfortable home for someone locally involved in agriculture and in housing need.”
