Welcome to the Exmoor National Park Authority's Sustainable Development pages

We are all working to conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of Exmoor and provide opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of these special qualities.

At the same time, we are all striving to keep our communities vibrant and make sure that there are enough meaningful and appropriately rewarded jobs.

We should all be trying to achieve the above by:

- consuming fewer non-renewable resources,

- emitting less carbon dioxide, and

- paying for the environmental and social costs of the products we buy

so that people elsewhere in the world, and yet to be born, do not have to lose nor destroy their environments, communities and economies.

A collective way of describing all of this is called Sustainable Development.

Within these pages you can find out about various issues and activities which conserve and enhance Exmoor’s environment, community and economy, in ways that do not hinder all other environments, communities and economies across the world to look after their own future. Hopefully these pages will give you the knowledge and confidence to adapt the ways you, your family, and your friends, live, work and play.

Many of these activities are happening thanks to the Exmoor Sustainable Development Fund.
