The Application Procedure
If you have an idea please read this leaflet, consult the 25 questions on the Application Form and then complete and return a Project Ideas Form. Your proposal may be safeguarding or creating jobs or providing accredited training.
Once this Projects Ideas Form has been assessed (normally within 10 working days), the Sustainable Development Officer will contact you. You will be invited to submit a full Application Form if your project
-clearly furthers one or both of the National Park Purposes,
-demonstrates that other sources of funding have been sought,
-will work in partnership with local communities and/or businesses, and
-will enable others to learn from your project.
Application forms are also available from Exmoor House, Dulverton, Somerset TA22 9HL
Proposals seeking over £10,000 must submit full income and expenditure tables and, if for more than one year, a schedule showing the timings, activities, and expenditure of the project.
Every 3 months or so, proposals that are ready and eligible are appraised by the ENPA Management Team and then the Independent Grant Advisory Panel which consists of 12 people who live or work in and around Exmoor.
The success of the Exmoor Sustainable Development Fund (SDF) in 2008 means that only limited funds are available through the scheme for the remainder of the year.
Therefore, in a change to the usual format, the SDF panel is calling on entrepreneurs, communities and individuals to submit applications for funding under four key themes:
· Up to £5,000 is available for work to establish a joined-up approach to renewable energy initiatives on Exmoor.
· Up to £10,000 is available for a research and demonstration project examining the viability of using farm waste to produce biogas on a small scale.
· Up to £5,000 is being targeted to identify the availability and sources of local building materials to promote the use of these materials in local developments.
· Responsible recreation is the final theme and up to £5,000 is available towards work which will help lower the environmental impacts of outdoor recreation activities on Exmoor.
The next deadline is 19 September 2008.
In addition to these themes, limited funding is available for smaller grant applications of up to a maximum of £2,500 for other sustainable development projects on Exmoor. Funding for other, larger sustainable development projects will be available from April 2009 when funding is renewed.
