The Greater Exmoor Network for Renewable Energy (GENRE) is a group of people from the public, voluntary and private sector formed in January 2004 interested in bringing about appropriate renewable energy installations on Exmoor.

School Wind Form (DOC, 47kb): Proposals for wind turbine installations in schools require planning consent for implementation. Where schools are provided and/or maintained by Somerset County Council, the Education Planning Department should be notified at the beginning of the project development process. If your school is interested in generating electricity from the wind please complete this form and return it to the Renewable Energy Officer, Somerset County Council. The form will be copied to the Education Planning Department for comment and the Renewable Energy Officer will contact you to discuss your proposals. This form will enable early identification of potential problems with the site of your wind turbine. A detailed proposal will be required to obtain planning consent.

Appropriate sites for the installation of small scale hydro turbines (PDF, 232kb): This map shows the sites on rivers and streams across the Greater Exmoor area which were assessed, in 1998, as being environmentally and financially appropriate for the installation of small scale hydro turbines.
