Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how Exmoor National Park Authority will consult the public and other interested parties on future plans, planning documents (now known as local development documents, within the Local Development Framework) and planning applications. It has been developed in the light of comments made by various community groups and others through three rounds of consultation. Early engagement with the community and stakeholders is an important process in developing the Exmoor National Park LDF

‘Planning for Real’ - one example of community involvement undertaken during the production of the Local Plan in 2000

The final round of consultation was completed on 10th March 2006. Following the final stage of consultation on the Statement of Community Involvement (SCI), an examination was held by an independent Planning Inspector.

The Inspectors Report was received in July 2006. The Inspector concluded that the SCI was 'sound', subject to the incorporation of some very minor amendments. The Exmoor National Park Authority formally adopted the Statement of Community Involvement on 1st August 2006.
