Exmoor Knotweed Control Project

QUEST stands for ‘Quality Underpins Exmoor’s Sustainable Tourism’ and is about working together to enhance the greater Exmoor area as a quality rural tourism destination. A destination which exceeds our visitors’ expectations, maintains a vibrant and sustainable tourism industry, and brings benefits to the environment and local communities.

We are working in collaboration with local businesses, communities and public bodies to strengthen Exmoor as a high quality visitor destination. The project will undertake a range of activities during its lifetime, but initially we have been focussing on working to achieve greater co-ordination in the management of tourism and enhancing quality for visitors to Exmoor.

To this end QUEST has been developing a Strategic Action Plan for Sustainable Tourism for the Exmoor area. During summer 2003 we held a series of meetings at a number of locations across the Exmoor area, which provided an opportunity to contribute to the development of the action plan. This first phase of consultation meetings helped to identify key issues, and highlight some possible solutions, which have informed the development of the plan. The final phase of consultation ended on 24th October 2003.

One of the aims of the QUEST Project is to research visitor needs, expectations and levels of satisfaction. During the winter of 2003/03 a pilot visitor satisfaction survey was devised and carried out. This visitor satisfaction survey has been developed and a full survey is being carried out between June and December 2005.
