Exmoor National Park enjoys the support of numerous volunteers, many committing one day a week to help out with whatever tasks need doing.
A new partnership has been formed between Exmoor National Park Authority, the National Trust, Dunster Crown Estate and the South West Lakes Trust to encourage members of the public to help with various tasks and projects within the National Park.

This new joint partnership will offer participants the chance to widen their volunteer experience with a variety of ‘hands on’ practical tasks together with monitoring and management projects. It will also offer the chance for all involved to exchange ideas and expand their knowledge on the many aspects of the conservation of Exmoor.

Tools are supplied and for a pleasant and rewarding day out all you need are suitable clothes, sandwiches and a little enthusiasm.
We recognise that every individual has particular strengths, interests and available time which is why we have developed a flexible rolling programme of tasks ranging from practical conservation work to monitoring and recording:
The National Trust at the Holnicote Estate invite up to eight volunteers once a fortnight to undertake vital practical conservation tasks.
The South West Lakes Trust at Wimbleball Lake utilise the volunteers to assist with repairing and enhancing the site for visitors.
It is hoped that the Crown Estate near Dunster will have improved habitats as a result of volunteer work.
Parsonage Farm Nature Trail is an ongoing private project assisted by the volunteers.
National Park Authority staff request help with a range of projects from removal of evasive species and erosion monitoring to checking guided walks leaflets and planting trees.
Training in first aid and for specific tasks is given to every volunteer with sessions running on both weekends and week days to enable as many volunteers to take part as possible.
