Conservation
£ 500 has already been raised which
means that the Exmoor Conservation Volunteers will be building 50 dormouse nesting boxes during the
autumn. Pictures of the volunteers hard at work will be available soon.
Archaeology
£
150 has been raised to purchase specific tools required by the archaeology volunteers from the Exmoor
Conservation Volunteer Partnership. These tools will enable the volunteers to continue to protect many
of our ancient and important sites. We are currently sourcing the tools, and photographs of the volunteers
at work will follow shortly.
Rights of way
Excellent
progress has been made towards raising £3000 to convert a popular set of stepping stones into a mini-clapper
bridge to ensure two and four legged walkers cross the water without getting wet feet! We are now half
way to achieving our target.
Enjoyment
Investigations
into the three elements of the Exmoor for All project are under way. The project aims to create a ‘pre-visit
pack’ for users of Exmoor with visual impairments to learn about the National Park before they arrive;
provide businesses on Exmoor with multilingual interpretation for use on their web sites; and to update
information about where to go, where to eat, where to stay and what to see for people with limited mobility.
Each of these elements will require input from a range of individuals and organisations, and the current
estimated cost for the project is £5000. We would be very pleased to hear from anyone who may be able
to offer advice or assistance with any elements of this project.
