New bridge at Winsford

Members of Winsford Parish Council, residents and funders gathered on the Village Green in Winsford recently to celebrate the opening of their new bridge.
The bridge and ramp are the result of several years of planning and fundraising and replace a smaller wooden bridge which had fallen into disrepair. The new bridge is designed to allow disabled access onto the Village Green, as well as pushchairs.
Richmond Harding, Chairman of the Parish Council, said: We are absolutely delighted with the new bridge which was made by local craftsman Alec Gannon, while Robin Lockwood constructed the stone walls and ramp. They have done a fantastic job. We are grateful for all the support and funding in putting this project together, particularly from the National Park Authority, West Somerset Council, the West Somerset Area Working Board and County Councillor John Edwards through his Discretionary Fund."
Refreshments on the day were kindly provided by The Royal Oak at Winsford and Mrs Lillian Harding.
