Free Walk to Celebrate Devon and Somerset Hedge Week
A free walk to learn more about Exmoor’s hedgerows is on offer on Thursday 30 October led by members of Exmoor National Park Authority’s natural environment team. Bea Davis from the Authority says: We carried out an exciting survey of hedgerows in two parishes earlier this year to help us to understand more about what makes Exmoor’s hedgerows locally distinctive. We were delighted with the findings and hope that people will enjoy hearing about and seeing what we found out and also join us in a hunt for signs of one of hedgerows most illusive mammals, the dormouse.”
The walk, of approximately 1½ miles, will be downhill at an easy pace with a shuttle service back to the meeting place. To assist with transport arrangements and catering afterwards, anyone who would like to come on the walk should book by emailing: bdavis@exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk or by telephoning 01398 322288. The walk will start at Exford car park, SS855383 at 2pm for about 2½ hours with refreshments provided at the end. Walkers should wear suitable footwear and waterproofs.
This event is being run as part of Devon and Somerset Hedge Week.
