Captain Morgans and his miners” – a free lecture

A chance to hear about local industrial heritage is on offer next week when Mike Jones, a local historian who has spent the last fifty years researching the Mineral Line, will be giving a free illustrated talk about the people who lived and worked on the Mineral Line.

The lecture will be taking place at Ralegh’s Cross Inn on Wednesday 14th January at 7.30pm, will last for approximately an hour and there will be refreshments available. To book a free place at the lecture please call the Dulverton National Park Centre on 01398 323841.

This is part of a series of lectures exploring the history of the Mineral Line which will be taking place over the course of the year, and forms part of the West Somerset Mineral Railway Events Programme.

The West Somerset Mineral Railway Project was awarded a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2007 to conserve and interpret the Mineral Line which was used in Victorian times to transport iron ore from the Brendon Hills to Watchet.
