‘Spring Moonwatch’ is a national event which is timed for when the moon stays high above the horizon for a long time so, weather permitting, it should be an ideal opportunity to view the first quarter moon and the planet Saturn. The remote venue stands in an isolated setting on the high moors of Exmoor and offers wide open views into the depths of the heavens to accompany an informative presentation. Contact 01643 831 437 to book or email: pinkery@exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk  basic accommodation available and hot soup and roll provided.

Exmoor National Park Authority, in partnership with Tiverton and Mid Devon and North Devon astronomy societies is hosting the events to raise awareness of the beauty and conservation of dark skies. Most of them are free, but numbers are limited so booking is essential.

The events are supported by a grant from the Royal Astronomical Society in support of the IYA2009 and its associated Dark Sky Awareness project.
