Step out and eat up to support charity

Exmoor National Park Authority Ranger Patrick Watts-Mabbott is stepping out to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer and is looking for people of all ages to join him.  The gentle 2 mile walk on Mother’s Day (Sunday 26th March) will be followed by a cream tea in the Moorland Hall, Wheddon Cross (SS924387).

The walk is part of the Mother’s Day Crocus Walks, sponsored by Norwich Union with money raised funding Breakthrough’s vital research and education work.  Norwich Union is promising to match pound for pound all funds raised, up to £100,000.

Sally Webber who is organising the cream tea to follow the walk says “Supporting Breakthrough is very important; cancer affects the lives of so many people.  Everyone is welcome to join us for the walk and cream tea to raise the profile of this campaign.”

Participants are asked to make a donation to Breakthrough to take part in the walk which starts at 2pm. Cream teas will cost £1 for children and £2.50 for adults. Please wear appropriate footwear and bring a raincoat.  For more information please telephone Sally Webber on 01398 322293 during office hours. Unfortunately due to the route of the walk dogs are not able to participate.

Over 41,000 women and 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK, but by taking part in a Crocus Walk you can help Breakthrough create a future free from the fear of breast cancer.
