The Visitor Centre at Porlock is a multi-purpose Centre, independently operated by the Porlock Tourism Association. It was established in 1987 and operates with the assistance and support of the National Park Authority and West Somerset District Council. The centre offers a range of services and displays, including a very good topographic map, and information about Porlock and Exmoor. The centres houses a display of Aurochs bones dating from 1500 B.C which were recently found on the beach at Porlock Weir when exposed by tidal movement. Find out more about the archaeology of the area and the Aurochs in particular, by calling into the centre.

Helpful and knowledgeable staff can assist with advice about the immediate locality and various activities and events, take bookings for tennis courts, provide fishing licences and an accommodation booking service. A regular tour of the nearby Holnicote Estate is operated by the National Trust, from the visitor centre.

By purchasing locally made products and services you can help the economy of the local area . A range of these items, particularly from the Porlock area, is always available in the centre. To maximise your enjoyment of Exmoor, a variety of literature and maps are also available. The centre is also a focus point for the local community, offering promotional opportunities, communication and administrative facilities and a Comprehensive Council Information Service.Porlock Millennium Embroidery is also on display.
