To attract additional funding for Exmoor’s moorland, Exmoor National Park Authority has been leading on a bid for funding through the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Landscape Partnership scheme.

The Exmoor Moorland Landscape Partnership Scheme is a £2M, nationally-funded, 3 - 5 year programme of projects to ensure that more people can enjoy, learn about, look after and celebrate the moorland landscape heritage of Exmoor.

The planning of the Scheme was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund which has also offered 90% of the cost of developing the Scheme and earmarked £912,000 (50%) towards delivery – subject to satisfactory details being submitted.

The Partnership of organisations developing the Scheme comprises: Active Exmoor, Butterfly Conservation, English Heritage, Environment Agency, Exmoor National Park Authority, Exmoor Society, Exmoor Trust, Field Studies Council, The National Trust, National Farmers Union, Natural England, RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds), West Somerset Community College.

The Partnership will be using a Landscape Strategy (PDF, 3.58MB) to develop the Scheme over the next year, with the final application to the Heritage Lottery Fund due in 2009.
