Tuesday 27th to Thursday 29th September 2022

  • Download the conference brochure (PDF) for the outline programme, delegate info and confirmed speakers to date.
  • An overview of the study tours is available here (PDF).

Hosted by Exmoor National Park Authority, the conference will be based in the beautiful medieval village of Dunster, on the eastern border of Exmoor, with transport links to national networks (including bus to Taunton mainline station and links to the M5 within 1 hour).

National Parks are increasingly being called upon by governments and civil society to answer to a national agenda. To consider not ‘what do national landscapes need?’ but instead ‘what does the nation need from them today?’ This will be the overarching theme for our conference.

The conference offers time and space to develop new thinking.  Our aim is that participants will leave with a refreshed sense of mission and ambition for what National Parks can offer the nation.

The format has been designed to hear from those outside of the immediate National Park ‘family’ and create a relaxed and informal environment for NPA Members, staff and key partners to meet, learn, share ideas, and be inspired. It will provide time away from day-to-day pressures to consider the big issues and opportunities facing our National Parks with plenty of time for informal networking and debate.

Please note this is an invitation only event which is now at full capacity. For any queries please email .
