The Chains and Great Bradley Bridge
Help fund vital work on The Chains and Great Bradley through a contribution to CareMoor for Exmoor. While substantial donations have been raised through the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) Mend Our Mountains campaign, there is still much we need to do. Your contribution can help us complete these projects to help keep Exmoor accessible for all.
The Chains
The Chains is the name given to the north western plateau of Exmoor, an area that lies above 1,500 feet. A remote upland bridleway route runs the length of The Chains from Exe Head in the east to Wood Barrow in the west, boasting stunning panoramic views – it is about as remote and wild as you can get on Exmoor. But walkers and riders spend more time looking at where to put their feet and hooves – trying to avoid sinking into a boggy quagmire!
We need your help to allow us to continue important repair work along The Chains.
Great Bradley Bridge
We need your help to create a brand new bridge across the River Barle at Great Bradley.
While a bridge has been sourced it needs to be completely refurbished, then transported to the site. Ramps and abutments will have to be specially built and everything fixed into place. If that wasn’t complex enough, the site itself is inaccessible to normal traffic so specialist machinery and skilled contractors will be needed to do the work.
If you can help us build the bridge, we can move the Two Moors Way route onto the western bank where it can be enjoyed by visitors for generations to come!
