Back to Basics: compass crash course


Date: 16th May 2019 4:00pm-5:00pm
A 1 hour session to learn how to take a compass bearing, measure distances between points, find grid references, time your walk and learn your 100m pacing. Personal Kit: waterproof walking boots/shoes, map case, waterproof jacket and trousers, sunglasses, extra fleece or thermal layer, personal medication. Terrain: Around public footpaths and pavements Children: Min age 16. Under 18s must be accompanied by a paying adult The session is intended only as a navigation competency exercise and NOT as a qualification for leadership, mountain navigation or night navigation.
