Charles Village Pageant ( R.D. Blackmore Celebration)

Date: 23rd Jun 2019 3:00pm
Take a step back in time to 17th century when a band of ferocious brigands known as the DOONES wrought terror over Exmoor and a pair of star crossed lovers wished to wed. Then join us from 3.00pm on Sunday 23rd June in Charles, a small village on the edge of Exmoor, to be part of the re-enactment of the marriage of Lorna Doone (Lady Dugal) to Yeoman John(Jan) Ridd. To set the scene our pageant begins 150 years ago when R.D. Blackmore published his most famous book LORNA DOONE, and enjoy entertainment from that era together with an interview with the MAN HIM SELF. Following the wedding join us for supper and libations all for the modest sum of £10 (£5 for under 14s). Please see our face book page lornadoonepageant.
