Exmoor’s Rainforest

Date: 23rd Apr 2019 10:00am-1:00pm
Exmoor’s woodland is part of the ‘temperate rainforest’—a rare and internationally important habitat found in western coastal and upland Britain. These forests, also known as Atlantic woodlands, are ideal habitats for lower plants including ferns, mosses and lichens. This walk will introduce you to the fern species found at Horner Woods. You will learn a method for identifying ferns and you will be shown key identifying features of the species you encounter. You will also get to find out about some of the other interesting plants and lichens that are special to this habitat. This walk is being led by Plantlife as part of the Building Resilience in South West Woodlands project. No dogs.
