Grand National Archery Society Instructor Training Course

Simonsbath House Outdoor Centre and SW Archery Coach are pleased to offer the Grand National Archery GB Instructors Award Friday 11th and Saturday 12th May Archery GB have written and developed a new, modernised course for the basic instruction of archery. The course provides training that is focussed on teaching short taster sessions such as those delivered in activity centres; it is predominantly practical in nature, uses professional learning resources and offers improved training for candidates. What does the new course for instructors cover? • Establishing and maintaining safety on a range • Using a session plan to prepare and deliver a session • Identifying appropriate equipment for beginners to use • Explaining / demonstrating the simple steps to shooting barebow • Using engagement, variety and challenge to make sessions fun • Adapting sessions based the individual needs of participants Who is the course for? • Outdoor instructors • Teachers • New or inexperienced archers How long does the course take? • The award takes 2 days to complete. (2 days of training including an external assessment) Outcomes of the course and renewals • Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will be awarded a certificate of achievement and become an Archery GB qualified Instructor. • To keep the qualification valid, every three years candidates will need to complete a short on line renewal process. This demonstrates that they understand minimum safety requirements for instructing archery.
