Summary of What's Happening at Haddon Hill and Exford Car Parks
Exmoor National Park Authority provides a number of car parks across the National Park.
Over the last few years, we have been implementing a program of bringing in charging at some of our car parks to help offset the cost of running them.
At each car park site where we are bringing in charging, we have also taken a fresh look to see if any improvements are beneficial, either to make the site better for the public and nature, or to reduce our maintenance costs.
In early June 2023 we released a consultation proposal for charging and works at Haddon Hill Car Park and Exford Car Park. Those consultations ended on the 7th July 2023 and we have amended the proposals in light of the feedback received.
The planned works at each site are minimal and in-keeping with the existing character of the sites. You can see the revised drawings by following the links here:
With regards to charging we now plan to implement the following fee structure:
Exford:
- 45 minutes = free of charge
- Up to 1 hour = £1.50
- Up to 3 hours = £3.00
- All day = £5.00
- Annual car park pass £60 (£30 concessions)*
Haddon Hill:
- Up to 1 hour = £1.50
- Up to 3 hours = £3.00
- All day = £5.00
- Annual car park pass £60 (£30 concessions)*
*An annual pass is available at a cost of £60 that covers use of any of our pay-to-use car parks (£30 for those in receipt of certain benefits due to financial difficulty).
For both sites please be aware of this important information:
- We will only charge for parking between the hours of 10am and 6pm
- People who display a blue disabled badge will not be required to pay
- Payment machines will accept cash and contactless card payments. We do not intend to use a smartphone app system such as Ringo.
- Everyone using the site will be expected to pay to park, but rates will be the same regardless of size of vehicle or whether a horse box is on tow.
- Overnight parking or camper van use will not be allowed.
