Business & Economy
Exmoor National Park is a living, working, landscape. In addition to playing host to some of the country’s most spectacular landscapes it also hosts thousands of businesses.
In pursuing National Park Purposes the National Park Authority has a duty to foster the social and economic well-being of local communities, whilst working alongside colleagues in Local Authorities who hold the economic development remit.
We are very keen to encourage economic activity in the National Park which benefits from and enhances the local environment. This type of activity helps to make life in the National Park more sustainable. Examples of this could include:
- Environmental technologies
- Environmental land management
- Traditional building restoration
- Landscape enhancement
- Sustainable tourism and leisure
- Sustainable field sports
- Local food and drink
If you have an idea for a project or business that could contribute towards developing our environmental economy, please contact Sustainable Economy Team on 01398 323665 or email DTJames@exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk or PKiberd@exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk.
Exmoor and Dartmoor Economic Prospectus
Published in Autumn 2015 the prospectus demonstrates the pioneering role National Park Authorities have played to support rural economic development and further outlines investment opportunities that will help to deliver sustainable rural growth in the future.
Download the current Exmoor Investment Opportunities (PDF). This is a live list of current investment opportunities that could help to deliver sustainable economic growth within Exmoor. The list contains a mix of strategic and local opportunities of which some are investor ready, whilst others require development work. It is not exhaustive and includes projects led by other organisations in addition to those led by the National Park authority itself.
