Local Development Scheme

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) is a timetable or simplified project management tool for the production of local development documents including Local Plans and supplementary planning documents. The timetable set out below was noted by Members on 5 April 2016.

The LDS sets out the key milestones (listed below) for the new Local Plan, which covers the Exmoor National Park local planning authority area and incorporates both strategic policies and more detailed development management policies.

Preparation (Regulation 18) Draft Local Plan Consultation Completed: November - December 2013
Publication Draft Local Plan Consultation (Regulation 19) Completed 15 June - 31 July 2015
Submission of the Local Plan to the Secretary of State (Regulation 22) Spring 2016*
Examination of the Local Plan by an independent inspector (Regulation 24) Summer/Autumn 2016**

Adoption of the Local Plan (Regulation 26) Spring 2017***
