Iron mined in the Brendons in the 19th century was transported to Watchet on a well engineered railway. This is a three hour walk from Ralegh's Cross Inn, exploring old Brendon Village, the iron mines, the Winding house and the remains of the mineral railway still visible in the Brendon Hills.
