Meadow seed donors
How your donations are helping Wildflower Meadows to flourish!
Thank you to the landowners and CareMoor donors who are helping us with our meadow restoration projects. We are currently harvesting seed from donor meadows, to plant out and create more species rich habitats across Exmoor.
Since 2021, thanks to your donations, we have been running a project called ‘Sowing the Seeds’, working with landowners, farmers, community groups, schools, and parish councils, to create, restore, and promote wildflower meadows and habitats across the National Park. We're working with communities to make more and more wildflower areas that will in time join up to create a thriving nature network, where insects and other wildlife can flourish.
The project team harvest wildflower seed from rich wildflower meadows and use the seed to sow into different areas, which boosts wildflower populations and helps to spread this important habitat across the National Park. The project has helped to restore or create wildflower areas in over 450 hectares so far, that’s about 630 football pitches!
