Exmoor's Moorland Birds

Wheatear

Between mid April and early July 2024, a team of four bird surveyors conducted a survey of moorland breeding birds in Exmoor National Park. Over 35,000 birds from 89 different species were recorded. A selected group of 22 Target Species, chosen for their significance on moorland within the National Park, underwent in-depth analysis. By comparing the results to the 2014 and 2008 surveys, changes and trends in these species were assessed. This series of Storymaps and dashboards presents information on the Index of Abundance based on the 2024 data.
