What do you love about Exmoor?

I am a huge fan of the environment here, more importantly the diverse ecosystem that Exmoor carries. I think diversity in ecosystems is one of the more valuable things within our natural environment.

What is one issue or topic you care about?

Exmoor National Park became the first International Dark Sky Reserve in Europe. I believe the enforcement, education and expansion of dark sky reserves not only benefits the humility of astronomy education amongst the general public, but also strongly benefits nocturnal wildlife strongly in ways that need to be brought back.

Can you share a nature-based moment in your life that is memorable to you?

My father used to take me bat detecting in the East Midlands where I grew up, hearing echolocation occur in real time combined with the pure beauty of a night sky greatly boosted my love for nature and environmental ethics.

What do you hope to see/do/change in your role on the Youth Board?

I hope to promote awareness of dark sky parks, as well as the policies protecting nocturnal wildlife. Expanding dark sky parks until they’re commonplace would be a dream.
