Countdown to Exmoor Dark Skies Festival 2025
Running from Friday 17 October to Sunday 2 November 2025, the festival celebrates Exmoor National Park’s coveted status as a Dark Sky Reserve awarded by the International Dark Sky Association in 2011.

With less than two weeks to go until the Exmoor Dark Skies Festival, excitement is building across the region—and tickets are booking up fast. Over 70 events are planned across the National Park, offering something for everyone—from seasoned stargazers to curious newcomers.
Festival highlights include:
- Planetarium sessions in Tiverton and Ilfracombe
- Pathway to the Planets at Wimbleball Lake
- Dark Skies Yoga
- Campfire Stargazing and storytelling
- Dark Skies themed arts and crafts
- Astronomy Suppers & Talks
- Ranger-led walks and wildlife adventures
Festival Coordinator Julie Colman, said:
“The Dark Skies Festival is one of the most magical times to experience Exmoor. Whether you’re gazing at constellations, joining a night hike, or relaxing with a stargazing supper, there’s a real sense of wonder and connection. With events booking up quickly, we encourage everyone to secure their places soon and make the most of this extraordinary celebration of Exmoor after dark.”
Visitors are encouraged to book early and explore Dark Sky Friendly accommodation to make the most of their stay. Many events are suitable for families and accessible to all abilities.
