Somerset Wildlife Trust Pine Marten picnic

Pine Martin (cDWT)

Pack your picnic and grab your rug ready for some outdoors fun! Drop into Exmoor Lawns green (in front of Exmoor House) in Dulverton between 11am and 3pm on Saturday 31st May.

After enjoying your picnic, get involved in nature crafts or maybe get your face painted as a native animal! Discover The Poetry Machine to create your own pine marten poem and dive into woodland wildlife storytelling taking pace at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

Looking for inspiration on what to pack in your picnic?

  • Create sandwiches inspired by pine marten food sources like peanut butter, egg or jam for a delicious combination of savoury and sweet flavours.
  • Pine martens often consume nuts and seeds. Make a nutty trail mix with a variety of nuts, seeds, dried fruits.
  • Create a berry salad with a mix of fresh berries, such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries for a refreshing and colourful dessert that you would love as much as a pine marten!
  • Pine martens live in forested areas, and roasted root vegetables like carrots, parsnips, and sweet potatoes are a great way to evoke the earthy flavours of the woods.
  • For a playful dessert, create chocolate or peanut butter biscuits and use a paw print-shaped cookie cutter to make pine marten paw print cookies.

No food or water is provided at the event so please bring your picnic, or, food is available at nearby cafe's and pubs. All are welcome for the picnic fun. The nearest car park is immediately in front of Exmoor National Park Centre followed by the Exmoor House Car Park and Guildhall Car Park. Please bring suitable gear for the weather come sunshine or rain! This event is free and no booking is required.
