Willow basket weaving - intermediate workshop

In this relaxed and friendly workshop you will learn the intermediate willow weaving techniques and finishings to create a traditional stake and strand round basket, including 3 rod wale, French rand and 1/1 rod borders, using locally grown willow. This is a perfect next step in learning the art of willow weaving and is ideal for those who have completed our beginners basket workshop or those who already have a familiarity with weaving. The intermediate workshop will hone your weaving skills with more focus on precision and technique in order to achieve a flawless finish. During our service running days between the 18th - 26th of April EX & TA postcode residents are invited to enjoy travel for just £2.00. Plus kids under 14 years travel for free! For just £2.00 sit back and enjoy a relaxing train ride, passengers are entitled to one round trip only. We strongly recommend pre-booking a date and train service to avoid disappointment, however any remaining tickets will be available on the day.
You will need to ensure to bring along proof of residency (a utility bill or similar) or photo ID that includes your address like a drivers license to claim your £2 ride.

Holidaying in the area during this time? You can still enjoy visiting us and travel for the standard fare. Your ticket will be valid all day so you may be able to take part in multiple journeys. Please ensure to select the standard fare option, you will need to select a service time when booking however like mentioned before your ticket is valid for all services that day.

Tearoom & Station Shop
The Tearoom will be open every running day from 10:00 till 16:00, serving a range of light refreshments including hot & cold drinks, sandwiches, warm pasties and sausage rolls, cakes and cream teas.
Along with our Tearoom our Station Shop will be open with a range of gifts and souvenirs available to purchase.
First Class Upgrade (Available On The Day)
Upgrade on the day and travel in style and comfort in one of our 1st class compartments. You can purchase your upgrade on the day from our Station shop. This will be available on a first come first serve basis and cannot be pre-booked.

Tin Giants Concert

Progressive folk-rock band
Porlock is in for a treat, when the wonderful Tin Giants return to perform at Porlock Village Hall on Saturday 25th April 2026, 7.30 p.m., raising funds for Porlock Information Centre.
The band take a refreshing “in with the old, in with the new” approach to interpreting, writing, arranging and performing traditional, contemporary and original music inspired by European and Celtic acoustic and folk traditions.
You will be treated to listening to a dazzling array of instruments including hurdy gurdy, bagpipes, flute, oboe, harp, mandolin, cittern, guitars, saxophone, keyboards, violin, drums, bass, percussion and vocals.
