Dunster Castle & Gardens Self-Guided Tree Trail
This self‑led trail is designed to guide you around some of the rare, unusual, and historically significant trees that help make Dunster Castle & Gardens such a special place. Pick up your free trail map from the Visitor Reception building, then set off at your own pace. Perfect for families, nature‑lovers, and curious wanderers alike, this gentle trail invites you to slow down, look up, and see Dunster Castle from a fresh perspective. Normal admission applies to non-members.

We visit Beulah Chapel, the old Brendon village and the winding house. We discuss Ebbw Vale Company's plan to mine iron across the Brendons , transporting it by railway to Watchet. We proceed down the incline to Comberow, through the woods to Leighland Chapel and circle back via a picturesque waterfall. Boots, rainwear and a pack lunch are needed. Meet mountain leaders Nick and Unity for a guided hike with of around 2 hours along old drovers ways, across fields and into hidden ancient wooded valleys. We will have time to breathe, to watch and observe Spring unfurling, embrace the sights and sounds of the awakening moor. On the way we will pause for lunch and a drink before returning to East Liscombe Farm.
Here the sauna awaits, to ease tired muscles and melt away tensions. A plunge bath or cold shower is available to cool off between sauna steamings, but there is also a natural jacuzzi stream a few metres away. For those wishing to add this deeper immersive experience, guidance and support can be given to breathe through the exhilarating chill of the natural waters. Hot teas and water available.
