Dunster Castle & Gardens Self-Guided Tree Trail
This self‑led trail is designed to guide you around some of the rare, unusual, and historically significant trees that help make Dunster Castle & Gardens such a special place. Pick up your free trail map from the Visitor Reception building, then set off at your own pace. Perfect for families, nature‑lovers, and curious wanderers alike, this gentle trail invites you to slow down, look up, and see Dunster Castle from a fresh perspective. Normal admission applies to non-members.

The annual Porlock Open Gardens event, where community and visitors come together to share their love of gardening and gardens which are not usually open to the public. Many of our gardens have wildlife and nature at their heart. Weekend tickets cost £8.00 per person – sorry but no dogs are permitted.

The Exmoor Society Big Nature Day is back!
We’re delighted to announce the return of The Exmoor Society Big Nature Day, a joyful celebration of everything that makes Exmoor so special, from the stunning landscapes to the wonderful wildlife. Join us at beautiful Nettlecombe Court on Sunday 31st May 2026, from 10 am to 4 pm, for an unforgettable day of discovery, creativity and connection with nature.
Perfect for the whole family, the Exmoor Society’s Big Nature Day offers a packed programme of hands-on creative workshops, guided nature walks, live performances, delicious food, inspiring stalls, interactive arts and fascinating talks from some of Britain’s best-known environmentalists.
A key theme for the day is “nature for all” and the day will highlight both how important nature is to us, and we are to it, for people from all communities and regions to visit, explore and feel at home in the natural world.
There is something for everyone, with an exciting mix of national and local organisations ready to spark curiosity and inspire a deeper love of nature. Already confirmed are the National Trust, Exmoor National Park Authority, Butterfly Conservation, and local gems including Plastic Free Exmoor, Our Precious Earth, Horner Farm and Good Vibe Veg – with many more to be announced!

Entry: £10 per car (to help cover event costs)

Entry to the festival is free for members. A wild day out for curious minds – whether you’re 3 or 93!
The Big Nature Day will be the concluding event of the Exmoor Nature Festival, a two-week programme organised by the Exmoor National Park Authority starting on Saturday 16th May. The festival will celebrate wildlife and well-being in the National Park with a full programme of events to be released in the Spring.
