Flower resin workshop

In this fun and friendly workshop you will be guided through the process to create your own dipped resin flowers, using wire, florists tape and resin. These monthly classes are part of a series of flower resin workshops throughout the year, with the resin flower corresponding with the flower that you would naturally find in bloom in that month! The classes are suitable for beginners, you do not need to have attended a class before to attend any of the below dates nor do you need to sign up to all of them – you can “dip” in and out (excuse the pun!).
Dates and flowers:
Saturday 21st March 2026, 10am – 12pm – Bluebells
Thursday 23rd April 2026, 10am - 12pm - Dandelions
Saturday 9th May 2026, 10am - 12pm - Daisies

Saturday 18th July 2026, 10am - 12pm - Honeysuckle

Cost: £24 per person. You can book online (booking fee applies), in person in our shop, or by phone on 01769 572 401.

Pinkery Canal Excavation open day

Goat Hill Bridge Car Park

Join archaeologists and environmental specialists on 18 July to explore the fascinating story of the Pinkery Canal, one of Exmoor’s most intriguing historic features. Built around 1819–1820 as part of the Knight family’s ambitious reclamation of the former Royal Forest of Exmoor, the canal stretches nearly 8 km across the moor. Despite years of research, its purpose remains uncertain. Was it built to transport materials, power a railway incline, support drainage and water management, or even carry tiny horse-drawn tub boats?

This summer’s excavation is the first detailed investigation of the canal for 50 years and uses modern archaeological and environmental techniques to uncover new evidence. The canal’s banks have preserved layers of peat and soil, creating a unique environmental archive that can help reveal what Exmoor looked like before the Knights transformed the landscape through drainage, farming, and engineering works.

Visitors will be able to view the excavation, learn about the canal’s construction, discover what environmental evidence is being uncovered, and speak directly with specialists about the project and the Knight family’s remarkable vision for Exmoor.

Bring a picnic and enjoy the spectacular moorland scenery. Parking is available at Goat Hill Bridge Car Park, with a 1 km walk to the excavation site. Signage and staff will guide you.
