Hinds Pitt Bridge closed
May 2025 until further notice: Please be advised the bridge at Hinds Pitt upstream from Tarr Steps on the River Barle forming the popular circular Exmoor Explorer walk at Tarr Steps is currently closed for your own safety. Therefore, this circular route cannot be completed. You can still follow the River Barle upstream from Tarr Steps on either side of the river as far as Hinds Pitt, but you will need to return the same way, without crossing the river (for short walks we recommend the Knaplock Wood - East - side of the river). For the Two Moors Way please use the west bank.

New Sections of Coast Path Open on Exmoor!
Six new section of coast path were officially opened on Exmoor on 17th July 2024. They become part of the South West Coast Path but also part of the King Charles III England Coast Path. The six new sections are clearly signed on the ground with the National Trail acorn. The new sections of Coast Path are all closer to the sea than the coast path used to be and open up new access and spectacular views for the public to enjoy. The 'old' coast path routes are all public rights of way - some public footpaths and some bridleways - so are all available for the public to use and give opportunities for some great circular walks.
